This
old house was rehabilitated into offices for an independent film
distribution company on a very efficient budget. An addition and
support functions were constructed to contain executive offices
and a screening room. The concept was to separate the existing structure
from the addition with a transparent “entry breezeway”,
maximizing dollars spent for new space.
Dark paint on the old; galvanized metal siding, steel
structure, and sand-blasted glass on the new, provide street appeal
and “punch” for the image of the company. Manipulation
of natural light, skilled use of color and raw materials animate
the space and unify the two structures.
